Michael J – Co-Host
The guy with “the radio voice” on Let’s Talk Business Radio is co-host and show producer Michael Jurian – better known to his friends and fans as “Michael J” or “MJ”. MJ has been in the entertainment industry since 1977 as an on-air personality and DJ. He spent a brief time in law enforcement (about 2 1/2 years) and discovered his passion for music and people wasn’t being met so he turned in his badge for a pair of turntables and started entertaining folks with his music selections and engaging banter becoming an elite nightclub jock in and around San Francisco, where he grew up. He soon became the entertainment director for a restaurant/nightclub chain where he found himself in charge of theming 84 properties in 26 states. It was then that MJ was asked to voice dozens of radio commercials running the gambit of venue promotion to national advertising campaigns and his radio career was hatched.
Michael has directed several radio stations to a number one ratings status while pushing his mantra of “the content has GOT to be appealing for the listener, the advertiser and the station itself”.
In the mid-90s, the opportunity came for MJ to enter the talk radio realm and he was actually syndicated on over 135 radio stations throughout the United States. His specialty was current event issues and interviewing community leaders, business owners and people in the news. His best attribute was breaking down subject matter that was easy for his listeners to understand and subsequently question if they were so inclined. He accounts his three hour time slot ended up head to head “against some guy named Rush!”
Since, Michael has continued his career in radio operations focusing on music formats he loved (rock, boogie and blues – country – even, smooth jazz), commercial production and voice work.
He met and interviewed with Troy Warren in July of 2013, and as MJ puts it, “We bonded pretty much instantly!” and began working with Troy shortly after.
“The goal of Let’s Talk Business Radio is simply, really” he says. “We put out a podcast of information that EVERY business owner can use . . .useful information that pertains to the daily operation in the 21st Century. And we do that by talking with experts in their field, sharing the content both good and bad, and hopefully in a way that holds the listener’s attention – after all, that’s entertainment!”
